About the Bolognese Club of Canada

The Bolognese Club of Canada (BCOC) is a dog fanciers club created for all who wish to ensure the best interests of the Bolognese that are bred and raised in Canada or else where or for those who share a common interest in the breed.

The BCOC was established in 2004 by Carrie Belair, our founding President of Ottawa, Ontario. Currently on the Board are Juanita Heidebrecht as President, Linda Burke as Vice President, and Kristie Hodas as Club Registrar (IBBR).The administrative operations of the Club are currently managed and shared by all Board members. We hope to boast a larger Board of Directors as well as a Newsletter/Membership Chairperson in the near future.

The BCOC has an outstanding Advisory Committee: Janice Evenden of Kashima in the UK; Maria Luisa Friggi of Radamantino Kennels in Italy; and, Candace Mogavero of Tsvetnaya Bolonka Homestead and of Faireland Havanese in the US. Each
member brings her own field of excellence and experience that is imperative to the success of introducing the correct FCI standard of Bolognese to Canada, and in building a national club.

It is worth noting that some of the basic material presented here on this site is directly from the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). The FCI is the World Canine Organization.

BCOC will also be involved in rescue. Sadly enough as the popularity of the
Bolognese grows, so do unscrupulous breeders. The BCOC will work to educate the public, seek reform in how animals may be sold, and find loving safe foster homes until ‘forever families’ can be found.
